We really
like this product. Are you tired of waiting for hot water to reach your
bathrooms and kitchen? Homeowners get frustrated waiting for hot water.
And as they wait for hot water they are wasting on average between 2
to 3 gallons of water. In fact, some people are waiting up to 4 minutes
for their hot water to get to their bathrooms! Here are some
FAQs about the Grundfos Comfort System.
Q: Is Paster Plumbing a qualified Grundfos installer? A: Yes. Paster Plumbing
is a Grundfos qualified installer. We have the training and expertise
to install your Grundfos Comfort System. Grundfos
is a high-end Danish pump manufacturer with annual sales of $2 billion.
They have production companies on four continents and sales companies
in more than 50 countries around the world. Q: Why do do I have to wait
for hot water?
A: It's the way your plumbing is setup. In typical residential
plumbing, water flows from the hot water heater through the pipes to
the fixtures—showers, kitchen sinks, etc.
Once the tap is shut off, the water remaining in the pipes cools down
to room temperature—and the familiar wait for hot water the next
time the fixture is opened. Think about it for a second, this happens
every time you use your shower, bathtub, bathroom sink, kitchen faucet,
dishwasher, and clothes washer.
Q: How much water can I save?
A: Thousands of gallons of water per year. Water savings varies
depending on the amount of water you use. But to give you an idea: In
California for example, the average household consumes 174,701 gallons
of water per year. Depending on the number of people in your house and
personal water usage you could save thousands of gallons of water per
year.
Q: How does a hot water recirculation pump
work?
A: It's a continuous loop of slow-moving warm
water.
The Grundfos pumps constantly circulate hot water through the
pipes from the hot water heater to the furthest fixture, the water in
the pipes is always hot, and no water is wasted during the wait. As water
slowly cools in the hot water line, the Grundfos recirculation pump then
moves the hot water from the heater throughout the pipe back to the hot
water heater, creating a continuous loop of slow-moving warm water. When
a faucet is turned on, warm water is instantly available for use with
no waste. By constantly circulating hot water through the pipes from
the heater to the furthest fixture, the water in the pipes is always
hot, and no water is wasted during the wait.
Q: How can I see how much hot water I'll
save using the Grundfos Comfort System?
A: Get an idea by testing your bathtub.Try it yourself. Go to
your bathroom and pull up the bathtub stopper. Turn on the hot water
and wait until it gets hot. Now look at the bathtub and see how much
hot water you’re wasting every time
you take a bath, shower, or do your dishes.
Q:
What are some of the technical details?
A: The Comfort System includes a Grundfos UP15-10SU7/TLC
circulating pump and the revolutionary Comfort Valve. The
stainless steel circulator, complete with timer and 10-foot
power cord, is installed directly to the hot water discharge
on the water heater. The Comfort Valve is installed under
the sink at the fixture furthest from the water heater,
and the system uses the existing cold water line to return
hot water to the water heater.
